On Tuesday, December 29th at 10:30 pm ET the last full moon of 2020 will emerge in the night sky, shrouding us in all of her lunar majesty. This full moon will fall under the sign of Cancer—a deeply intuitive, creative, and home-building Zodiac sign. This kind of protective, sensitive lunar energy will usher us into 2021.
Cancer is ruled by the element of water which means that Cancerian’s lead with their hearts. At first, it might be hard to see past a Cancer’s crab shell, but once you get to know them you realize that their interior is soft—their shell was simply for protection from the precariousness of the world. Cancerians mimic the shell of a crab by creating a physical comfort zone in which they can safely express their creativity and deepest emotions: their living space. Though they would usually prefer staying in this comfortable familiarity with their loved ones and few others, when a Cancer ventures out of their shell, their sensitive interior allows them to take the emotional temperature of essentially any room they enter—they often will know if a situation is positive or negative before a word is uttered. So, if you’ve been feeling any kind of psychic energy permeating you as of late, run with it and trust those intuitive nudges that often we overlook.
Trusting Intuition in the New Year
A moon in Cancer will also feel quite natural, as this sign ruled by the moon—the only sign of the Zodiac that is ruled by this planet. Cancerian’s are very in tune with earth’s rhythms and the cyclical nature of being, reminding us of the pulchritudinous outcomes that come from combining unconditional compassion and reconnection to the natural world. If we proceed with the intention to let go and surrender to the change which is inevitable and constant (within nature and without), we can channel Cancer’s heightened emotional intelligence and trust of their intuition, and begin to more potently reconnect with our own.
Empathy and generosity will be available to you on this final full moon, if you allow yourself to be open to it. Use this heightened air of sensitivity to connect with your loved ones safely in person or virtually. Then, if you’re able to, cozy up on the sofa with a good book and a hot cup of tea or share a home-cooked meal with someone you love; bask in gratitude that even though this year was quite heavy for most of us, there are indeed lighter, softer times ahead.
